Re: Serious question on legality...

MotoRex wont ever be able to legalize any Post-1995 Vehicles...

Unless somebody figures out how to configure an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostics level II) System for the 1996-2002 Skylines.

Doubt it will ever happen... So dont worry about it.

Re: Serious question on legality...

Too bad they wont leagalize it. Maybe they will in years to come when the R34 gets older. In a very little way its a good thing, because companies who dont understand this culture (MTV, makers of NFS Underground) wont be able to buy them.

Re: Serious question on legality...

... Well, the absolute LONGEST you would have to wait, would be until the car is 25 years old.

In America, its the '25 year rule' stating that any foreign produced car 25 years of age, or older, is eligable for importation, without registration.

In Canada its the 15 year rule, thats why companies like JNS Imports are bringing in Twin Turbo Zeds, GTR's, FC3S's... Nice 1989 Vehicles.

Unfortunately, we have to wait until 2014 until we can bring in '89s.

So let's see... First R34's were made in 1998, add 25 years on top of that... Leaving you with:

2023... Wow, you only have 19 more years to wait. Like I said... Just forget about it for now.

Re: Serious question on legality...

Yes so I've heard, MotoRex, and RB Motoring have taken a sabatical from all legalization...

Im just going to wait patiently until the '25 year rule' kicks in from R32 GTR. Hopefully the world wont end by then.

Unfortunately for me, Im one of the people with an R32 thats being held up because of this. NHTSA wont release the car, even though it's finished.

It really sucks too, cause I dont need a damn airbag, hell if the car had one I would just get rid of it for a NISMO steering wheel either way.

They are "trying" to come up with a solution. An airbag was offered starting in 1991 for R32's, so it seems possible fix, unlike the OBDII situation with R34s.

Re: Serious question on legality...

Sorry man... Thats really shitty.

Thats why Im just staying 'at home' for my sports cars. For now at least.

It would be just too much money, and or time to get a Skyline. So 300ZedX's will do... For now.

Well... They're going to be losing business as of 2014, and it should be a steady down-fall from there on in. It sucks, but thats the way it is.

Poor RI's *tear*

Haha, just messing.

Why the fuck doesnt motorex just put in there own saftey harnesses and airbags in the car. your payin 10k for legalitly geez the least they could do is put a measly air bag in. Also why are they bs ing about air bags anyway! All the F*cking cars that can turn off the passengers side air bag! Both the cars I have do. Man the gov is stupid!

MotoRex's business isn't soley importing Skylines. It's like a side job thing. They'll be just fine without it...

Re: Serious question on legality...

Yea thats true. They sell performance parts, and body kits. Plus they compete in the D1 (bastardization of the drifting world...NOOOOO!!!). I guess they can do good.

Is this just for the new Skylines, or does this law apply for the ones already bought? Like, if I already owned one, could they take it away? Also, cant you just buy a Skyline from someone who already had it in this country?
