Just ordered a 325i. I did a weird order, what do you guys think of it??

Here's the situation. I wanted to get a 325 with stick shift. My uncle recommended that I get a coupe if I want stick, but the new 2002 325i design with the new headlights looks so nice, I opted for the 4 dr. I wanted silver w. black/xenon/premium/sport/and fold down rear seats. The issue is, when I went to the dealer to check out some of the colors, I sat inside a 325 with black interior, with premium package. The wood that comes with the premium pkg just looked so....dull with black. It looked more...professional and "old guyish," not fun. So what my dealer did was get all the options with the premium pkg except the auto-dimming mirrors, and left out the wood, so I could get aluminum trim (which looks nice). Was this a good choice? It's gonna cost 200 more or something like that to get all the options separately like that.

Thats sounds like it should work out fine. In answer to your other post, the coupe and sedan trannys are the same, the sedan actually handles better than the coupe because they are structurally stiffer. BTW, next time, just include all your questions into one post. Thanks.

I have the exact same type of ordering on my 2001 330i. The wood just looked awful for a SPORT SEDAN. Some of my friends say my interior looks really "cold" and doesn't provide any warmth, but heck, I like the really simple and industrial look. I think my invoice came out a lot higher, maybe 1 k or something. But heck, got to love the aluminum, and black leather.

I know that the wood is part of the premium pkge, and so is the auto dim mirror. So for him or her to charge you $200 xtra for cheap metal is for you to figure out.

Sounds nice. You're right, the wood doesn't really go that well with a black interior. My own preference is gray with the wood, but with black, I think the aluminum trim is definitely best.

You could always just get the PP and then swap the trim with someone who wanted wood.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. I have black leather, and although aluminum would have been standard, I paid extra for the wood. I didn't think the aluminum looked classy enough and it finger-prints like crazy. Also, I specifically did not want a sun roof, so I optioned everything else that came with Premium Package individually and saved 900 dollars. Everyone makes their own choices.
