Death - Mazda 6 crushes 93 3000gt

well today im going down university parkway and find myself stopped at a light next to one of those new mazda 6's. This mazda had exhaust and if i looked up a bit he had a couple of gauge pods on his dash so i figured he meant business.

I rev, he revs, light turns and we go.

i get a NICE jump on him (im an auto too so it was basically a brake launch) and am ahead all up to 80, i can hear his engine a couple cars behind me in full blast but i keep it even and then as soon as we hit 80 he manages to inch up and crawl past me by about a car.

He shuts down, i speed up just to get a look at him and give him the thumbs up. The guy was a pretty chill black guy around 30 years old maybe and when i gave him the thumbs up he just looked aside and gave me a cool calm collected nod.

The aftermath - i take a turn as soon as we exchange props and notice something horrid.... My OVERDRIVE was off, hindering the automatic to shift into 4th, which i believe explains why my gain stopped at around 80, also why the car didn't downshift as quick from half throttle to full. I almost convulsed as soon as i put it all together and turned around quick to go find him for another run, i was not quite convinced yet, but sadly he was nowhere to be found.

Cliffnotes - raced a mazda 6 from a light, gained until 80, he passes me, i had overdrive off

EDIT
To add to the story, a night before i got to view an srt run against a cobra.

Basically, there were 3 lanes, the cobra was in the right lane and srt was in the left, i was in the middle with a car in front of me so i couldn't participate even if i wanted to... light turns and cobra TAKES OFF but a car turns right into his lane as soon as they start, causing him to brake very hard and switch into the middle lane.... Regardless of this little obstacle, the cobra blew right past the srt at im guessing not even full throttle. I ponder running against the neon but instead i speed up towards the cobra and give the thumbs up to the guys buddy in the passenger seat (who had a sadistic grin on his face) and yelled nice car.
It was a beautiful race

I would of loved to of seen that neon cobra race. Sounds like it was one to remember.

Also, better luck next time. I hope you learned your lesson and will check to see if your od is on before a race.

Re: Death - Mazda 6 crushes 93 3000gt

i've personally seen srt-4s run mid-low 14s with just BC so those things are certainly capable of more than high 14s stock, but it's still a NEON
i guess it can be called a quick "cute" car..???
