Frustrating Horn Problem

I posted something a couple months back about my alarm/horn not working. Well, I went to the dealership to get it fixed and they did something with the horn relay...not sure what. Now, less than 2 months later the horn has stopped working once again. My problem is that before I was covered by a warranty so I had no problem bringing it to the dealership, but now my warranty has expired so I was wondering if any of you smart car people out there might know of anything that I could possibly do myself to fix this trivial, yet annoying problem.

Also, does anyone know why this may have happened yet again? Were my mechanics just inept or could it be a separate problem?

I have a 2001 Grand Am GT- fyi

thanks so much

Re: Frustrating Horn Problem

check your fuses, i think, usually the fuse is the same as the cigarette lighter, but i am not 100% sure, so check your owners manual and then check the fuse.

Re: Frustrating Horn Problem

The horn in your car is mounted in the front bumper, passenger side. Since they are mounted in such a nice place, they have a tendency to get corroded, or worse, filled with road debris. I would bet you need a new horn. You can try putting direct power to the positive feed and if it blows, then you have an electrical/relay/fuse problem, if not, replace the horn.
