electrical madness

Trying to figure out wiring for radio. This area a mess from previous owner. No equalizer or retractable antenna.
q1) with the antenna there is a wire. Where does it go. Can not make heads or tails on wiring diagram. Do not have electric ant. In window.Called the plug for the antenna amplifier - can not reach the amplifier.
q2) where can I find the heads that attach to the ends of the wires that go into the back of the radio ( 4 ). 2 have been cut off.
4) I figured out the hot wire ( constant)
q5) Have multiple sets of wires coming from the trunk line with the main set of wires to the radio. Have no idea where they go.
I have ( I believe ) accounted for all switches but still investigating.

Might anybody have an idea or better yet a pic of the area. I have manuals out the yin yang ( factory, haynes ) but no luck.
Any suggestions

87 porsche 944 standard non turbo
thanks

Re: electrical madness

I recently had all that figured out but since I closed that area up I haven't given it much thought.

There was a thin (18 gauge) wire that was with the antenna wire, yes the amplifer wire, I assesed from the existing connectors and a scematic that I had that it gets hooked to power (switched from the radio) Power on, when radio on.

Atop my factory Blaupunkt were four colored dots on a sticker. That was the key to the speaker wires. somehow I was able to ascertain that the colored dot refered to the colored wire pair for each channel of the chassis speaker wires.

Standby one......... I'll go see if I can find my tech data.

OK, I'm back.

Speaker codes as follows:
White, Yellow, Black and Red.......

White- front left (drivers)
Yellow- rear left
Black- Front right (passenger)
Red - rear right

*Brown tracer is the negative (-) of each pair.
I.E. white/brown is the (-) for the front left speaker.
white is the (+) for the front left speaker.

CONNECTIONS at back of radio.

1- ground connection, plug
2- ignition lock term.R, plug
3- lights
4- antenna amplifier (autom. ant.)
5- permanent positive term.30, plug
6- (was not specified)

Disclaimer..........This information given with my best intentention from my interpatation of the "Wiring Diagram Type 944, 944 turbo, 944 S Model 88 page 13. Radio Coodinates 81-90"
I used this info to connect my 1987 and it seemed to work just fine although I beleive this to be the schematic for a 1988 In other words use this information at your own risk.

Best wishes and let us know how it worked!

Re: electrical madness

Lemme know if ya need more info , I didnt have a fader installed in my 87 so I didnt include wires info for that.

I did learn about.... that, I think I can find a dimmer wire to connect the radio lights to. It is so bright on full all the time that I cant see my dim VDO Gauges....hehe

Sometimes the best way to know a subject is to teach it............. Or is that those that cant do, teach...........

Bon Chance!
