Speedo tampered with?

My friend has a 2001 A4 and thinks that the KM's are wrong. How can a person determine if the speedo has been tampered with?

..get someon with a radar gun to clock ya... or drive w/ someone at a predetermined speed and see if it matches up..

Acutally what I meant was that the KM's that the car has travelled thus far may be incorrect. example- the car only reads 20,000km and it is a 2001. How does a person tamper with the electronic speedo and what can my friend do to verifty if someone has done so?

if you want spend 5$ and get a car fax report and see if it was ever filed

you will never know unless a warranty claim has been made. call your local dealer and persuade a service advisor to look up the vehicle history. the vehicle history will give all warranty repairs done to the vehicle and it will display there dates and mileage. if the mileage is close then your good. if the mileage on your vehicle is less than the warranty claim history report well then it is time to arrest the previous owner.
