Headers vs Manifolds

I want to get a turbo header for my 95 tsi. Will there be a noticeable preformance increase? What can I expect? I was looking at a Pace Setter header for like $140. Whats the difference between the and $500 ones.

Thanks

Travis

Re: Headers vs Manifolds

It's called an exhaust manifold on a turbo car. Why do you want to upgrade? The only reason to get a different manifold is if you are going with a T3 manifold for a garrett turbo. You can get yours ported, but I doubt you are at that level yet.

Re: Headers vs Manifolds

the tubular exhaust headers are only used on our cars to convert to non mistu turbos. from what i know they are more likely to crack than a manifold and are a lot more expensive. pacesetter is cheap for a reason.

Re: Headers vs Manifolds

The pacesetter is for a turbo car 10.5. Its kinda cheap though. I know SBR was going to sell them, until they saw them. I would take a 2g, EVO, or SBR cast manifold over that thign any day. I run the SFP tubular manifold with no problems, but only because I'm running a t3/t4.

Re: Headers vs Manifolds

The SBR manifold is insanely nice, and is probably more than most of us will ever need. Go to SBR's website and look at some of the pictures of their manifold compared to some other manifolds. You will be able to see for yourself why I said they are insanely nice .

A full garret turbo like the one Kevin is using requires a special manifold because the bolts and bolt patterns are not like the mitsubishi turbos. Basically, if you buy a full garret t3/t4, then you will have to also buy a new manifold and I think a new o2 sensor housing that will match up to the t3/t4.

I have heard from alot of ppl that pacesetter is junk. Make sure you research about it before you buy.

Good Luck!

Re: Headers vs Manifolds

The 2g manifold is capable of 10's. The huge ball bearing FP turbos use the stock manifold! Kevin went with a T34 manifold because he has a T3/T4 to bolt onto it, it's a different bolt pattern.

Re: Headers vs Manifolds

Because the biggest mitsu turbo we use flows 44lbs/min, and his flows 75lbs/min.
