1986 nova engine swap

I have an old 1986 nova that currently has a 4a-lc 1.6L 4 cylinder sohc toyota engine in it. I'm looking to swap in a better engine but was wondering what you guys thought would be the best and eastiest to put in.

Lol, where did this thread come from? Anway, umm lets see. Depends on what kind of power you want to put in it. I would go with a 350 Small Block. As long as you know about engines and how to put everything togther you can put any Small Block engine in their. Im going to put a 383 in my 68 Nova.

Re: 1986 nova engine swap

haha, no I agree with Fyter87... drop a SBC in there and go rear-wheel drive!!

In all honesty though, I think the late 80's Nova was a Toyota Corolla or something... so I would have no idea what to put in there!

I've got an '86 and I was thinking about getting a motor from an '80's Camry for it. Most of them had 2.0's. I think some were even turbocharged.

Re: 1986 nova engine swap

You Toyota Nova guys will have to forgive us. Most of us have the older V-8 Nova's. Yours is the first post I've seen reguarding the newer compact Nova's.

Turbo 2.0? I say go for it! Or maybe you could just hop up the present motor some. Even try NOS. It would be easier than a swap anyway.
