Re: b4c interceptor ???

It should be either 3.23 or 3.42 depending on the transmission I think.

Re: b4c interceptor ???

the Interceptor is the Ford...Chevrolet just dubbed theirs the B4C(camaro) and 9C1 (Caprice). Gear ratio depended on Auto or Manual Transmission.

Re: b4c interceptor ???

Its an automatic. I remember on a TV show (Car And Driver or something) along time ago when the camaro police cars first came out they called them interceptors. I specifically remember that b/c I loved camaros and thought that was a bad-ass name for a cop-car.(i was probably 14 and was easily amused)

Re: b4c interceptor ???

the B4C camaro is technicly an interceptor used for highway patrol, and specificly to target fast targets. its a police term, in addition to a ford name. so while its not labeled with the name, its how everyone knows it.

Re: b4c interceptor ???

rear-end should be a higher gear than that. i dont think they put the same ratio that they put in the factory cars. what's the point in that?

Re: b4c interceptor ???

Why would they go out of their way to put a ratio in the rearend that they dont offer in their cars?? The 1LE cars never had anything fancy. You just got the 3.23s instead of the 2.73s with automatics and 3.42s instead of whatever came with normal 5 spd cars.

Re: b4c interceptor ???

my reasoning is that the whole point of the b4c package is so that the cops have a superior car than anything else on the street. im not saying that they have to have a higher ratio, just seems to make more sense is all. ofcourse i dont know of anyone that would know, manufacturers keep those specs pretty well under wraps...

Re: b4c interceptor ???

the B4C was basically no different than a Regular Z28. The engine, suspension, and PCM programming were the same. They all had the Oil cooler, 140 amp alternator, and No speed limiter. If you ahve the ability to read OBD Binary files on your computer, I can send you a B4C PCM program to look at along with a stock Z28 or Trans Am program.

Re: b4c interceptor ???

B4C Automatic cars got 3:23's and B4C 6spd cars got 3:42's.

Re: b4c interceptor ???

you guys keep saying b4c manual, anybody know for sure that they made a manual version. police cruisers are all automatics so that the officers can concentrate on driving. just wondering is all...

Re: b4c interceptor ???

Most interceptor cars were bought for high speed pursuits. Im pretty sure a bunch of them came with manuals because they werent normally used to normal every day police activity.
