Ghost in the Shell 2

well it looks like there is a sequel coming. They better not mess this one up since the original Ghost in the Shell was a masterpiece.

Yea, that’s one of the few anime that’s found it’s way into my collection. Great story! The comic book for part II been around for years now (dark horse comics I think) I was wondering when Masamune Shirow would get around to making the sequel. The story line takes off about a year or 2 after major Kusanagi went underground. She becomes head of security of some company. It’s been about 2-3 years since I've seen it last so I’m probably going to watch it tonight now.

Actually like in the first movie Masamune gave carte blanche to Mamoru Oshii to do whatever he wants so it will be a bit off again from the manga.

Oh wow, you're right! Last night after watching it I did a little googling and found out what part II was about. It wasn’t what I thought, and has nothing to do with the comic! It quite literally takes off right where part 1 left off. The major Kusanagi isn’t even in it! Batou is the main character! I saw the trailer, it looked very cool. In theaters Sept 17!

Re: Ghost in the Shell 2

Let us hope it lives up to the greatness that the origonal GITS was. I will probably watch it some time this week, looking foreward to it seeing as it's taken this long to release.

Re: Ghost in the Shell 2

I think that I spent most of the movie reading subs than enjoying the artwork. There's ALOT of dialogue and obscure quotes. I definitely have to see it again to enjoy it fully, damn me for my lack of knowledge of the Japanese language.

Re: Ghost in the Shell 2

It was in theatres just recently, so the DVD date will be a little ways away.

Re: Ghost in the Shell 2

I saw some commercials for it, never found a place to see it where I go to school (or anyone who wanted to see it lol). Thats wierd that its just about batou, I hope that there will be more on the Tachikoma or whatever it's called (you know, the think tank), I loved the episode that was just about her/it.
