CARB (California Air Resources Board) engine parts..
CARB that stands for California Air Resource Board, am i correct? so lets say i want to buy better performance cams for my 240, dont they state if its CARB legal or not? or how would i know whats CARB legal and whats not? As far as pistons and Rods go, how does that work with CARB? would lower compression pistons effect Smog regulations? or would higher compression pistons effect smog regulations as well? or does it only give my engine more HP? and if i go with lower compression pistons and put on greddy turbo that is CARB legal... would i be alright as far as smogging the car? (not visually)

Does it matter? no inspection station is going to pop your valve cover off and measure the duration of your cams. just make sure the visible stuff is legal
as far as passing emissions. If a 400Hp RX-7 can be tuned to pass so can a 240 with 250 duration cams |

Re: CARB (California Air Resources Board) engine parts..
even though the it maybe Carb legal, if it doesn't pass smog it, you will fail. Just because it is carb legal doesn't make it a guarantee you will pass. Most of the time the non-visual parts aren't carb legal(well I haven't seen one)...If you can use the parts(the non-visual) and pass smog, go for it. But don't rely on CARB exempt to help you pass.

... wow...
Products qualify for CARB exemption because they have been proven "not to adversely affect emissions output" of a vehicle. That's the whole reason for having the CARB in the first place. If a part is CARB legal, not only will (should) it pass in California, but anywhere else in the USA... because California (to my knowledge), has the strictest emissions requirements. Now, if you were to get a part that is not CARB exempt, you risk not passing a visual test, and emissions output may (or may not) increase. If you fail with CARB legal parts, there's something wrong elsewhere in the engine (be it tuning, or whatever). As far as I know, the GREDDY turbo kit is still pending CARB exemption. Search for an Executive Order here: http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...es/amquery.php The way CARB works, you would have to swap a KA24DE from a 97-98 240sx in order to be legal if you were to use the Greddy Kit, as that is the model it is specified for. Re: CARB (California Air Resources Board) engine parts..
All i am saying is that just cause it has the carb exempt sticker on it doesn't guarantee you will pass smog overall. If you fail smog(something wrong with your engine), you failed....even though the parts are carb exempt. I am just saying don't rely on CARB sticker to help you pass smog.
