Just bought 1997 Oldsmobile 88

I just bought a 1997 Oldsmobile 88 it has a 3.8L V6 with about 80,000 miles on it. I was wondering how it will compare to my old car, a 1992 Oldsmobile Achieva SCX that I recently spun the barrings on. I was wondering how it will fare compared to reliability, gas mileage, power, acceleration, ride quality and any other specs anyone could help me with.
Thanks for any help.

nope, just alot of miles on it, plus a little punishment from the previous owner, my brother. He's a little hard on cars. I like to try and take care of my cars. I'm sure all the mountains around here didn't help either.

When it finally died I was trying to drive up a ridge and it had already was having a little trouble the power was dropping hard, then it stopped completely and locked up. About five minutes later I was able to start it back up and limp home.

I always try to down shift whenever the engine starts to labor, they don't build engines the way they used to,they run a lot more consistant but will not take the abuse like they used to.I have a friend that works for GM and he has told me stories of these cars lasting for 2 to 3 hundred thousand and still going, always remember its still a six.

I'd be willing to bet that the eighty-eight will be more reliable than the SCX. The 3800 is definitely a better motor than the quad-4, in my opinion. Acceleration may be comparable or a little slower than the Achieva. The SCX had what, 180-190hp? But you'll like the torque of the 3.8. And the 3.8's will last forever, which is something I don't think most people can say about the quad-4.
