carbon build up

on my newly purchased gsx i noticed a lot of carbon shooting out of the exhaust. i changed my plugs and thney have lots of carbon build up on them. plus my car is running very poorly. i think a civic could take me thats how bad. i read a vfaq (http://www.outreach.psu.edu/users/res122/DSM/)
and it recommends these steps to clean out the carbon build up. has anyboyd messed with this before. i think the carbon build up is from the stupid valve cover breather so i installed a RRE catch can.

Re: carbon build up

The black stuff coming out your exhaust and getting on your plugs is normal for a car that runs rich. An O2 sensor thats on its way will do this... So will boost leaks, even more so. Check those things first.
