Turn signal Problem

I have also been having problems with my turn signals and hazards not working all the time. I found the information regarding the recall and called GM to make sure my vehicle (2000 Alreo) was covered. According to GM, my car is not covered in the recall - something about the VIN and where the vechicle was made (even though I'm having the exact same problem mentioned in the recall).

I would then contact the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. The contact information is in the back of your owners manual and it specifically states that if they are not responsive to your recall issue, then contact them. Your dealership may be in violation of the law if in fact your car is covered. I would also try contacting another GM Goodwrench dealer to have them check. The other dealer may just not want to do anything.

The recall is for only the 2000 models built 2/2000 or after and the 2001 models built 5/2001 or prior. The majority of the 2000 models would have been built prior to 2/2000 are not included.

From personal experience.... It is a 35. part and 85. in labor to replace and Oldsmobile/GM will stand by there lack of quality/reliability by not reimbursing.

contact the customer service center, the number should be the back section of our owners manual.
these are reported to the district service reps and go against the dealer ...they dont like this...it sometimes works to get them to do something

I had to replace the hazard switch 2 months ago. Immediately afterwards I reported the problem to NHTSA by filling out their form online. Received letter from GM last week acknowledging the problem but saying there is not a recall. However, you can request for reimbursement as long as you save your receipts and send in the Customer Reimbursement Claim Form. Contact either the Oldsmobile Customer Assistance Center at 1.800.630.6537 or 1.800.204.0261

The switch runs about 30 bucks and is easy to install on your own. Simply remove the two hex-head screws holding in the black plastic surrounding your instrument panel. After removal of this plastic it is possible to reach the back of the switch and pull it straight back towards the dash from behind. Mine took a decent firm tug but came out just fine. Be sure your pulling on just the plug though ;-)

I have a 2001 OldsMobile Alero and i am having problems with my hazard lights and turn light. (they dont work all the time).
It seems that there is a recall on that. Does anyone knows where can I find more information about this recall?
