Help alarm 98 Rodeo
Does anyone else have trouble with their 98 Isuzu rodeo
alarm going off when parked??? Where can I find a wiring diagram and chilton/hynes manual for the 98 rodeo?? Thanks LU

Make sure the hood pin switch is making good contact. It's on the rear of the passenger side fender (near the ABS module) & makes contact with the rear/left of the hood. Bend the bracket if it's not closing the switch with the hood closed. These have been known to cause this issue.

Same Problem
My Alarm Goes Off When Parked At Least 5 Times A Day. I Recently Had An Accident Where The Front Passenger Fender Area Had To Be Replaced. Could You Let Me Know If This Solution Worked For You? Its Driving My Neighbors And Me Crazy

1999 Izusu Rodeo Phantom Alarm Problem Solved
I have had the same problem many folks have had with their Isuzu Rodeos. I have a 1999 Rodeo LS, and couple of years ago my Rodeo alarm would go off for no apparent reason several times a day. I did what most other folks did as a quick fix, I disconnected the noise maker (aka alarm horn) but still the head and tail lights would flash for a couple of minutes. Also the alarm would engage whenever I opened the driver's door.
I read a few forums where some suggested that I needed to find the tailgate door switch. If a shimmed it up with a few washers my problem would be solved. All except for the fact that on my 1999 rodeo there is no door switch (I think its actually built into the tailgate latch. I also noticed a problem with my radio; The right speakers were louder than the left, even after I adjusted the balance. Well, I played around with the wiring a bit and found a loose pigtail (connector). Now, my alarm NEVER activates on its own and the volume balance on my radio is perfect. Here is what I did: 1) Open the driver's door. 2) Find the left kick panel. Pry up the floor groment and remove the kick panel. 4) 5 Pigtails (connectors) will be exposed. Bottom 2 are black, next two are white, top one is blue. 5) Locate the second pigtail from the top (white). Pull it toward the back of the vehicle. You may find it to be loose, that is, it is not fully engaged to its mate. 6) Re-engage the male and female pigtails until the retaining clip snaps into place. This procedure COMPLETELY solved this problem that has been driving me crazy for over a year! Hope it works for you.
