Well, I got 4 bolts out of drivers side...and I think that looks like all of them. Hopefully, I only have four more bolts to remove on the passenger side(and some misc wiring, etc!)
Is this true? Are there only 8 bolts holding the bed on? I am hopeful, as the blacktop got very hot by the time I got those four bolts off! In short, how many bolts hold the bed on my 2nd gen(1996) s10? Thanks, az-ben |

Re: Removing Bed on '96 S10
I've never seen more than 8 bolts on any truck bed, so that's probably all of them. I would imagine that your replacing the fuel pump, and I understand that you only have to loosen the passenger side bolts, and it'll tilt up enough to do the job

Thanks for the heads up...I already removed them all anyhow! I was inpatient, so I took out all eight, then slid the bed on the frame a bit...deffinitely only eight bolts! Now I just need to wait for my buddies to come over tomorrow and get the bed out of the way so I can the the darned pump swapped out!

Re: Removing Bed on '96 S10
All done! Fuel pump swapped out...truck started right up. It could have been done by just removing 4 bolts and tipping bed up...but not be me as I had never done it before. I got my fingers crossed that I do not need to test the theory.
I still have a SES light coming on and off...time to take it to a shop with a code reader.... Thanks again for all of the help on this thread and my fuel pump thread, Ben |

Post a new thread on the codes when you find out about them and we will help diagnose.
