Question B.O.V. Question

hey, Im outa my forum, so please no honda jokes....

anywho, buddy of mine has your standard issue WRX. He has an ingen CAI installed and that's it for mods. He is considering spending money on a greddy BOV (Blow Off Valve). with his turbo set up and no plans to upgrade his turbo, I told him to save his money and spend it on something more likely to enhance the performance. as best as I can tell, the WRX turbo system is et up precisely and to alter it with a BOV would likely be useless.

am I wrong? what could he do in addition, or what performance would he see with a BOV kit? Or, what else should he spend his $250 on?

thanks all.

Re: B.O.V. Question

Yes you're wrong.

What other mods has your 'buddy' done to the car?
It's pointless modifying it to make it breathe in more effectively when he hasn't addressed the exhale yet.
In other words, upgrade the exhaust before you start toying with the air intake end.

Re: B.O.V. Question

from what i have read bov's dont do anything to enhance performance. it tends to make the car run rich, which is a bad thing. but if he does get one dont get one that releases100% into the atmosphere, get one thats 50/50

I think your buddy should listen to more of your advice.

The stock valve has drivability benefits that he would lose with a BOV, on a stock motor. Tell him to research this before he spends his money.
