69 Camaro Z/28 - 396 SS????

Anyone know? Got it as a gift.

The box says 1969 Camaro Z/28, yet the fender badging says 396 at the front and Camaro SS It was a 1995 release from Ertl

I don't know much about camaros but I suspect that the 396 is the displacement in cubic inches...

yeah, but it says 302 c.i. on the side of the box.

I've heard that misprints are sometimes worth more, since their so rare, but IDK.

Nice SS!

Maybe the 396 stands for the horsepower or torque? Just a thought.

I wouldnt exactly call them rare, they are uncommon. And as far as the value, it all depends on who buys it or who collects the misprints. Most likely it is worth right around what you paid for it, or unless you can find someone who collects misprents or Camaros, you will maybe get a couple dollars more.

Good eyes though

Yes it is 396CI, I think the car is in the wrong box.

Exactly what I saw. Box marked Z/28 had a 302. the car is marked 396SS I didn't want to pull the straps off it but peeking under the hood, it has 396 on the air cleaner.

Strange

OK delete this thread...

I found this http://www.thediecastmall.com/generic14.html third from the bottom. My box has the same Item #7367 This says 1994 release, but mine says 1995 release. Was a miss-box by Ertl.

It was a gift, so I guess I got a lil more than just another diecast

Yes..that's definitely not a Z/28. And 396 is the displacement.
