Newbie..... Have Tranny Probs and Questions.
Hey,
Ok, I have a 1986 T-Bird 3.8L V6 Automatic, and Lately its been having problems. When I start it and it hasn't been running for a few hours, it doesn't want to immediately kick into drive. Reverse works fine though. What I have to do is take it all the was to 1, then drive a bit to get it going, then gradually go to 2, then Drive. After I get it going it runs fine. and if I Drive say..... to town, which is about 8 miles, then go into a store, an hour later it usually just works correctly, so I know it only happens when the engine is cold, I just don't know WHY, so could I get a lil help here? Also, Could I get an Estimate on what it costs to have my Tranny Fluid and Filter Changed? Please Help me out, and thanX in advance. ~Ma$ta Ja-Red~ |

Sounds like the seals are hard or stiff.
Has the car been sitting for any amount of time?

If it was, it was only a few days...... I haven't gone 1 week without driving it, and Pretty much drive it every day, even if its just short trips.
