it might come down to the driver, the new eclipse runs high 15s and a sunfire GT can do the same. also if the sunfire is a stick and the eclipse is a auto then the sunfire might have the advantage

i use to have a 2000 Sunfire GT till a guy pulled out in front of me and totaled it and now i have an Eclipse GS-T and my Eclipse is sooooooooooooooooooo much faster than my sunfire was even though i have the 2G Eclipse (turbo) i still say the eclipse would win but y dont you just do it instead of e-racing?????? then you will know for sure

It's the driver. I beat a riced out civic out of a toll up to about 85 w/o trying. Not that I OWN a sunfire - it's my biznatches ride, but the idiot pulled up all tough and looked at me with his beady little eyes, fart can a-farting..... ....the right driver with a manual trans can beat a car with superior numbers if they know how to drive. Some people spend too much time & money on their cars & have no idea how to drive them.

Speaking of driving skills - has anyone here ever lost a cop? That's when knowing how to drive comes in handy.

yeah ive lost a couple, with my old 86 escort. he was going the opposite direction and i just cut down some side streets. the second time was with my 92 cavalier and i just parked in someones driveway and killed it and ducked. he hauled past me and didnt come back so i left. now i own a 2004 sunfire and i dont want that taken away so i "try" to drive nice.

the right driver with a manual trans can beat a car with superior numbers if they know how to drive. Some people spend too much time & money on their cars & have no idea how to drive them

if the fire was a stick..maybe a win but it's all in the driver....the eclipse does have more power tho

only like 45 over the GT in stock trim. if it's a 2.3L sunfire, then a quick HO or W41 swap and then its a 5hp difference, put a cai, clutch/flywheel, larger injector,computer and the header on the sunfire and now the sunfire is about 50 or so in the lead on HP. and it's no longer a drivers race as the sunfire stomps the eclipse. Now you say stage 2 turbo in the eclipse. to that I say add a turbo to the sunfire (no other mods not even cams) and the fire still wins and should be able to whoop a camaro (not the SS but not sure) and a mustang (yes a gt)

still depends on the driver, tc eclips will prolly stomp a sunfire, and i donno how you can just say "stage 2 turbo" there is no set amount of boost increase for a stage 2 system, it depends on the kit and tuning. Stock vs stock = somewhat drivers race, but the eclips obviously has the edge, modded vs. modded to the same extent = same exact senario at higher speed, but yeah, stock eclips vs. modded sunfire, yeah then the sunfire could have the edge depending on the modds, but that really doesnt say much. But in any case, why doesnt someone race instead of just talking about it. its a lot more fun.

I just raced a eclipse last friday I have a automatic 2001 sunfire with cold air intake custom racing muffler and some other mods on the engine he had a 2g eclipse manual trans and some mods done to his car i smoked his ass badly and his friends laughed there asses off at him said he was gonna sell his car and get something else

now what type of Eclipse was this??? lol b/c the guys must not know how to drive cause i use to have a 2000 Sunfire automatic and now i have an 1997 Eclipse GS-T (turbo) and my eclipse could STOMP my old sunfire in a heartbeat and i have STOMPED many Sunfires in my car so this is y he i say he MUST not know how to drive expecially an auto vs. manual . was it a RS, GS, GS-T, or GS-X?

yeah it really depends on the engine, a lot of eclipses are slow as hell, some are better.
