Lions vs Tigers, who would win?

i got this idea from that "dont fuck with lions" thread, but i always wondered this.

so who do you think would win? do you know who would win? any other cats that could kick some ass?

If the fight was one on one, I would guess that the tiger would win. Of course, it all comes down to motivation. For example: fighting for food, territory, defense of kittens, etc.

Tigers and lions do not naturally cohabitate any areas, with the exception of zoos(which wouldn't be willing to match them up), so this is purely a theoretical situation.

Depends. If its baseball, the Tigers will win. If its football, the Lions will win. But both teams suck and an all out brawl, I'll give the nod to the guys with the bats.

If you're asking about Bengal tigers VS the African lions, it will be close, as both can max out at about 500 to 550 lbs (male), and are about the same size maxed. The tiger is faster, maxing out at 50mph at a flat run, with the lion maxing "only" at 36mph but, the tiger is not endowed with the same stamina as a lion.

If the tiger can't knock-off the lion within the first few minutes of battle, the tiger will be in trouble.

The tiger is designed for stealthy, jungle fighting, with quick bursts of acceleration to take its game down.

The lion is used to wide-open plains, where it has to chase-down fast prey that have lots of stamina.

Here's each one's trump cards though:

The Siberian tiger. Has been known to get up to over 1,000 lbs, averaging at 800 to 900 lbs for full-grown males. This cat will have no problem knocking out a grown lion easy.

The lion is a pack-hunter. Either a Bengal, or a Siberian tiger will not stand a chance against a pride of lions attacking in concert.

I'm guessing when you say lion vs tiger, you're going to want the best of the best. With that being said, the siberian tiger would take down a full size, male lion.
