Question window motor

I just bought a 2002 GMC Seirra with no power windows. I was wondering if some kind of window motor kit can be purchased and installed..Thanks

Re: window motor

You should be able to buy the factory motors and regulators from the dealer. I think it is a "simple swap" or as simple as that sort of thing is anyway. All the holes should be there. I dont think they make different doors or windows for the power. You will need to wire some power and switches too... Good luck, let me know

Best thing to do is go to a junk yard: and pull the window motors and switches. If not EBay or dealer. You do not need the whole assembly just the motor. It is up to you how you do the wiring but you have some options.
1. Get all the switches and wiring from the junkyard. It will all plug together. You may need new door panels. (Con time consuming and may be expensive. Pro will look like factory even under the dash.)
2. Just get the switches from the junk yard and do your own wiring. I have done this before it takes time and some knowledge of wiring. (Do not ask me I do not remember the details.)
3. Do not use the factory power door panels but cut in to your existing one. It is an OK way to do it. Have done this in the past turned out different but as good as it can possibly look. (Con. Will not look factory. Pro cheap does the job. And you can upgrade to factory door panels later.)
4. Get after market wiring harness and switches. (Con. It will cost you. Switches will look and feel cheap. Just as hard as the other two if not harder. Pro none).
Personally I wood go with all factory but I have access to a good junk yard. If I did not I wood get factory motors and switches make my harness and cut my original door panels. But that is me.
It will take some one that has never done this before a weekend to finish. If you do your harness get it working on a bench first.
Good luck. It sounds like a fun project.
