I have a 2000 S-10 Blazer 4WD, with a 2" body lift and torsion bars cranked nearly all the way. I have a knocking noise on the front left side of the vehicle. The noise happens when i'm going around right hand turns @ any speed, braking going around right hand turns and reversing to the right. It is loud and I am scared to drive it till I have an idea of what it could be.
Also if anyone knows of a lift kit(except trailmaster) for my blazer, i've been lookin for a long time.. Need help ! |

Re: 2000 Blazer - Strange noise in front end?
Torsion bar mounts are a very common on the Ist gen Blazers/ Jimmy's. If it's clunking turning right, your left mount is done. Not sure if the 2nd gen are the same but I'd guess they are as the rest of the front end parts ar. Replace them as a pair if so. Not the most difficult thing to replace, however there is a trick to doing it. They're aweful to get out. Do yourself a favour and grind the end of the stud down by 1/2" or so, and but a taper leading up the the threads on it. Next time, you'll be SOOOOOOOO glad you did. 5 minute job next time around.

Re: 2000 Blazer - Strange noise in front end?
yes, but your suspension performance will be poor.
Replace both of them at the same time. |

Re: 2000 Blazer - Strange noise in front end?
Do what tbischop said. You will find that there are 2 bolts that come up from the bottom to hold the mount. On the inside of the frame rail where the tortion crossarm mounts to the rubber mount, it is held on with 1 nut. It is best to remove the nut on each side first then the 2 bolts. Next, remove the driverside mount first, you will need a prybar to lift up the tortion crossarm (or member) to remove the rubber mount. This will give you a little more room to get the passenger side out. The difficulty on the passenger side is the exhaust. However, if that rubber is seperated from the mount, it will come out in two pieces which will be easier. Now do what tbischop said in his post. The stud that bolts the tortion crossarm has a taper to help align it through the hole. Grind it off (after grinding test the nut and make sure it goes on easy, if not, clean the threads) and make sure you do the passenger side first because of the exhaust, do the driver's side last. The mounts come with neversieze applied in the 2 bolt holes. You might want to put a touch of this on the stud prior to putting the nut on. You will be glad you did for the next time. If I had a buck for all that I have done in the shop, I could buy another set for my '93. Good Luck!
P.S. They are cheap, about $17 bucks each here in Pennsylvania |

Re: 2000 Blazer - Strange noise in front end?
I had the same problem on my '95 Blazer...
I had to fix my CV Joint to get rid of the noise. |
