Gee, thanks Sharon. Your car hell has moved West, now taking up residence in my garage. My daily driver 98 GC Limited 5.2 is still runnin' along, not a problem to date, 113,000 miles and counting.
However, my other halfs 2004 BMW X3 with 500 miles on it is back in the shop, third time. After the panorama roof having a mind of its own, the problem moved to the power windows. After a detailed diagnosis today, the dealer decided that the regulator that runs all the power crap is faulty, it needs a new one, under warranty of course. Problem tho, they are on national backorder, I won't see the car back for at least a week. Oh, and no loaners available, they are all booked up. I think I'm going to head down there very shortly to have a chit chat with the General Manager, this is crap. See, I shoulda bought him a 2004 GC, or given him my 98. <grrrr> |

Re: Car hell moves west
Oh yuck, sorry to hear that!! I guess we'll hear tomorrow what's up with our cars--a glimmer of hope on the Honda, though--may have been a hose and not the whole radiator that bit the dust. One can hope....
HOWEVER we're dealing with another mess. The remnants of Hurricane Frances moved through late this afternoon dumping 5.75" of rain (last time I checked--it's still raining and we remain under a tornado watch for 2 more hrs). The drain outside our basement door (walk out, level there) hadn't been cleaned out and water came in under the door. LOTS of water. So much water that a lot of things are ruined. So much water that a 5 gal. ShopVac is next to worthless--it would fill in a matter of seconds. We actually started out bailing with buckets!! It flooded the west half of the basement over to the steps (which are in the center). Here's a picture of the floor at the bottom of the stairs: ![]() It was a painted floor (kind of glad now I didn't have the $$ this summer to put down tile or linoleum...) and all the paint is bubbling up and coming off. About half the tiles in the downstairs bathroom are popping off. I am SO tired of all this stuff happening!! I've been dealing with this since I got home--and tomorrow marks the first day of real classes!!!! (Like I've gotten a damn thing done tonight to prepare for that!!)

Re: Car hell moves west
When one thing goes wrong, it ALL goes wrong. Ugh, sorry about that, but seeing as how you live on the east coast, I assume you have flood insurance and now maybe the insurance will pay to have the flooring finished, who knows?! Keep me/us posted on east coast car hell. I'm going to the BMW dealer in the morning to inquire as to how they plan on furnishing wheels so Travis can get to and from. Not that I don't have enough cars he can drive, its the principal!
Good luck to both of us! Cheers! |

This afternoon I discovered that my mom has more damage than I do. I'd checked the unfinished part of her basement last night and while there was some water coming under the door, it wasn't as serious as my situation here. Today when I just HAPPENED to check the finished part of her basement, I realized that about half of the 18x24 wall-to-wall carpeting is saturated. It's all got to be ripped out--and quickly. Guess that's what I'll be doing this weekend. I'm exhausted--first day of classes was today. So glad I prepared as much as I did ahead of time because there's been NO time to work on anything school-related the past 2 nights. Jeep-related--it's still in the shop but they're taking care of the problem with CV boot (replacing the axle--not just the boot). The guy said he'd like to keep it this weekend to try to get the transfer case to act up--of course it's been fine when he's been driving it, but probably just because he hasn't let it get hot enough yet. Miss it, though I'm grateful to have the loaner Windstar to drive. Did you call the BMW place today re: your car hell? |

Re: Car hell moves west
And so it goes...
I've had a few business related things pop up and try to strangle me this week, so I have yet to declare war at Crevier BMW. However, today it shall be done. I'm wrapping up a few last minute items at work and then will tackle that deamon and see where it gets me. I hate crap like this, I'm far from a confrontational person. I'll repost tonight and let you know where it got me. <Crosses fingers> |

Re: Car hell moves west
Ive already had a car lemon lawed and it was the single largest pain in my a$$. I'd rather settle with the dealer. On the same token, every new car I've ever purchased has had a few quirks that needed to be worked out, so I'm just hoping that's all it is.
