Buy a Legal S15 silvia?

Now, you want to start yelling at me how you'll have to pay excess bank to get the car into the states, let me worry about that, and let you worry about coming up with the money.

My company is currently under construction in California, and is interested in whether or not there is enough of a market for the Silvia.

Would you buy (if reasonably priced) buy a J-spec Silvia?

*Car would meet US DOT standards
*Legal US vin
*street driven
*Secretary of treasury compliant
*RHD

S15 bodies look so much better than an s14.5, if I had the money (and I mean a lot) I'd love to get an original S15. That's if I had a hell of a lot of money to throw away. Otherwise, S14.5 would do it for me.

Here in NZ, S15's are so easy to get it jst aint funny. U can get a S15 for under aboout 15k. Dno exactly bcuz NZD is about 2/3 of USD. have a look:

A 1999 Spec S S15 sold here for $5000. It was immaculate in every way. It has many aftermarket mods and is a really sharp car. S 15s are NOT hard to come by. The problem in the US is that it is NOT currently being legalized by anyone. It is NOT a car that can be legally street driven in the US unless you have a business that sponsors the vehicle and then it can ONLY be driven on the street for a limited number of miles.

What law is what? S15s are NOT legal. If you are a business there are ways you can sponsor a vehicle but there is a bit of red tape to screw around with. The annual mileage is limited though.

These are noncompliance regulations. As has been explained, the high price tag includes the original price, shipping, DOT, emissions, saftey standard retrofitting, and any other necessary paperwork needed on the vehicle.
