Question need help/have question about struts

My husband and I replaced the rear struts on my 200o gt. now when i drive i can hear like a rattling noise that sounds like its coming from the top of the struts on both sides. When we looked at the top of the struts, the bolts and washers that are sitting up inside the trunk, it appears that it is loose. Meaning, i can grab the top part of the bolt and wiggle it back and forth. the washer will turn very very easy and it just seems like its not right. Can someone please help. Then whole reason in trying to change them ourselves was to save some money but I think that I am now going to have to take it in somewhere.
Thanks

I have not done struts on mine yet but from previous experience it sounds like you may have left out a bushing on one side or the other of the hole where the strut goes into the trunk. Just a guess.

struts

we only took the strut/spring off (the whole unit) and then took it to the part store and they compressed the spring and took out old strut and install new one for us. so all we did was bring new ones home and put back on car.
