ya 8000 is enough for almost anybody...except maybe an F1 driver...ha...but he has a 2004 model, which has an 8000 rpm, that is why he is asking if there is a chip that will raise it...because he most likely doesn't like how Honda lowered the redline in the 2004 model. i dont like what they did. peace.

Umm NO!

Back to the topic. You'll need ALOT more then a "chipped" ecu. You gotta COMPLETELY rebuild the motor especially the bottom end. Balance the crank/knife edge...balance and blue print to the specs you want you want to rev. Its really alot to do and its hard. Anyways WHY do you want to rev higher? 9k rpm is more than enough. If you want a little more power then get some fat cams, hondata (get it tuned), basic bolt ons. You should see about 25-35hp gains right there with correct tuning. If it was me i'd just turbo it.

Its because its a bigger motor with more TORQUE. They tuned it to where you see the peak tq/hp at lower rpm. Thats the best i can explain it. Its not a bad thing at all. Revving higher doesn't mean you have power. You actually lose power...especially with a chipped ecu. For an S2000 i'd definitely get the hondata and fatter cams. The cams would keep the lobes open and therefore he'll continue to make power on top end. You can rev high if you want but i'm telling you that the motor wont handle it. You have to get it build specifically for that type of revving.
