Re: why is the radiator fan called a clutch fan??
Its Called A Clutch Fan Because That Metal Thing The Plastic Fan Blades Attach To Is A Clutch.... And It Allows For Slippage Under Certain Situations And Full Operation Under Others. Its Basically A Self Regulating Thermostat.... Also Some Mechanical Water Pumps Use The Weight Of The Assembly To Help Properly Flow Water.

Re: why is the radiator fan called a clutch fan??
There Are Pros And Cons To Both Systems... For Street Driving I'd Say A Clutch Fan Is Better If Thats What The Car Was Equiped With Oem. For Some Racing Applications A Electric Fan Is Better.
