1995 Does Not Start
Was running great and just stopped. Tried to restart and it wouldn't. Turns over fine. Battery is fully charged. Timing belt is fine. Gas in tank. When I turn on the key, I do not hear the fuel pump turn on. I tried starting fluid and that did not work either. While turning over the engine there is not spark going to the spark plugs. I have searched everywhere for an answer for this and cannot find one. I am leaning towards the PCM. I cannot find a replacement online for this. I don't want to buy one from the dealer because of the price and not being sure that will solve the problem. I removed the PCM from my wife's '96 Metro but, the connections are different. Any help on this would greatly be appreciated. Thank you.

so there is no fuel or spark?? hmmm....maybe bad crankshaft/camshaft position sensor, or TPS? this is a a big guess but i'm not too sure. PCM is a good guess too. take off an electrical connector to one of the sensors (MAT, ECT, one that gets reference voltage from the PCM) and turn key on but not as if you are going to start engine. hook voltmeter to it and see if voltage is getting to it. if so, PCM is fine. this is a guess but i hope to help at all. also, any symptoms before it wouldn't start?

No hint of anything. It just shut off as if I turned the key off. NEVER did it before. That is why I'm so baffled. At first I thought I ran out of gas but I have a half tank. Thanks for the reply BTW. Will try some of your suggestions. That will eliminate some more things, hopefully.

Well, if it wasn't for people posting how they solved their problems on these forums, I would never figure out most of this stuff. So, as hard as it is for me to admit this, I will tell for the benefit of all. FUSE FUSE FUSE. I cannot believe how careless I was. It has been over a year since the car has run. I got so frustrated tonight after work that I just stopped. Packed up all my tools and just started from the beginning. First thing everyone does: CHECK YOUR FUSES. ALL OF THEM. The entire time I was concentrating on IGINTION and FUEL, or FUEL PUMP, because I had neither. Well, guess what. FI is a very important fuse. I feel like an idiot. But, I'm a happy idiot. I went fuse by fuse with a multimeter and found it. Anyway, I hope my stupidity helps someone else out there. Peace.

glad it was simple BUT.....remember that something caused that fuse to blow, so if i were you i would figure out why that fuse blew....that will prevent future headaches. glad she's running again though.
