Coilover Troubles
I have been searching the web for information on what coilovers I should get for my drift spec s13 but everyone has a different opinion. I was wondering if anyone could help give me some advice on what I should go for, with some reasons to back up your choice.
I am currently thinking of going for the JiC FLT A2's or Tein HE's with the EDFC, or Tanabe Sustec Pro DD. I am leaning most towards the JiC's because from my research they seem to be the most customizable. Thanks for you time and help |

Re: Coilover Troubles
i have heard really good things about jic, they have like a bagillion different heigth settings, but they are really expensive, if money is no problem go with the JiC's

Re: Coilover Troubles
get D2/K-sport coilovers. They have a lot of adjustability, similar to JIC's and a lot cheaper. I have a set, they are nice.

orestes I don't really care about it too much
Yeah the JiC's sound nice. I have heard the Teins have a tendency to rust pretty bad. The Tanabe Sustec Pro DD's also look very nice. It's hard trying to make a decision. |

Re: Coilover Troubles
tein flex and he were improved fromt he basics and ha's from rusting.
the he's dont work with the edfc. jic's suck. ive never heard anything good about the tanabe sustecs besides from benson (sileightymania.com) but he's sponsered by them.

Re: Coilover Troubles
are D2s bad also? I heard D2's design are similar to JIC's, maybe just in size though not sure about construction. D2's also come with brake line brackets, but I didn't put em in.

Re: Coilover Troubles
i dunno about d2's. havent known enough people with them to judge it. what i did hear though, is that theyre super bouncy, even on the softest setting...
i didnt now they were desgined like jic's at all...but if they were, soften up your settings before they blow

If you dont care about being the JDM 1337ness
the best in my opinion are the SPL Coilovers. From just looking at them you can tell they are a great design. plus if the shocks do blow you dont have to fly to japan to nut check someone. These are what im getting once i get rid of the 18sJICs = teH Ubar SUx0rs1!!! ive heard horrible things about JICs from blown shocks to a Dyno where all the shock settings are random and nearly the same. Teins - the high end aluminum ones seem ok but the lower end (sub 2000$) seem iffy. most people say they work fine but i have heard that they rust. then the 1337 Driftaz say that Tein is no better than APC in japan. (something has to suck to get that title) Note: you have to think of whos telling you what to buy. the coilovers you want are relatively low buck meaning that most likely they will be the owners first set of coilovers. anyone that comes off a set of blown shocks and cut springs will think any coilover is a dream. the people who have run on multible sets are the ones you want to ask. I personally dont have any experience with any. my opinions are a regurgitation of what i have heard from other people, However i will never run JICs or Teins. just because i dont want to risk it splparts.com at least check em out. |

anybody know how different shocks and springs are compared to the coilover set? i've got kyb agx shocks and eibach sprotline springs.. is the only difference the fact that you can adjust the height on coilovers?
