I am trying to id a sensor that screws into the head near the thermostat. It looks like a plug, with a copper bottom and has two prongs to plug in a wire. I have not traced the wire yet. I think it is a water temp sensor. I wanted to have an idea of what to call it before going in to get a replacement.

Re: 84 f-250 6.0 diesel
It is called the "HPCA sensor" (High Pressure Cold Advance), all it does is set up the idle and timing slightly during cold starts (if you depressed the accelerator before cranking like you should).
They are available from both Ford and Navistar. BTW, the engine is a 6.9L not a 6.0L. |
