Exclamation Throttle stick in between shifts please help

I have a 92 camaro 3.1 v6 manual. In between my shifts, when i push the clutch in, the throttle likes to stick open at about 2000 rpm and will stay there for abou5 seconds until it eventually returns back to idle. I had an idle air sensor motor changed but that did not fix the problem. can someone help me?

Re: Throttle stick in between shifts please help

When you say stick open, Do you mean that the pedal is sticking down? Or the pedal returns and the idle stays up??

Re: Throttle stick in between shifts please help

alright.. sounds like a bad or misadjusted TPS (throttle position sensor)

Could also be a vacuum leak in your system somewhere.. WHen you rev up the engine, do you ever hear whistling noises??

Re: Throttle stick in between shifts please help

Have someone rev it up a bit and listen through a length of pipe.. Try to pinpoint the whistling noise.. A bad vacumn leak will cause the high idle.. You could also try squirting soap and water on all the hoses and connections (EGR hoses, PCV hoses etc etc) Look for bubbles

Re: Throttle stick in between shifts please help

if you do plan on changing the TPS, i have some advice. use the right size tool, cause the bolts will
strip out.

Re: Throttle stick in between shifts please help

it'l be on the throttlebody at the end of the throttle shaft.. Kind of a round lookin thing with two small torx screws holding it on and a three or four wire plug in it..

Re: Throttle stick in between shifts please help

yeah that should move freely (it should only be able to move in one direction, then return.. but there should be very little resistance..
