New Post!!
Hello Everyone, Need help, my girlfriends 1999 Saturn(sl) has developed some rust spots on the hood. The best way to describe it, is...they almost look like acne for cars. The spots are about a 1/4 an inch, or smaller and they look like they are starting from under the paint. The spots are small, but she has them all over the car hood. Of couse, she never took care of the outside of the car. No to get gross, but some of the 'acne' rust spots have opened, but not many. You can run your fingers across each one. Should i take it to a detail carplace and have them compound the entire car - or are their any other suggestions......help. Please email me at [email protected] - thanks. |

Re: 1999 Saturn rust spots on hood
HEHE, my car has acne too.
for a long term fix - go to a body shop. for a short term fix - clean up the rust with WD-40 and/or silicone spray, maybe a little sandpaper too. this won't remove all of it, but it will help. there is this plastic repair clay stuff, i think its called JB weld, look for it at your local hardware or auto parts store for it or something simular, that should fill in the holes. then use touch up paint. be warned - WD-40/silicone spray will destroy fresh paint, so after the rust is cleaned up, wash and srcub the area, let it sit over night, and wash and srcub again, then the paint should be fine. |
