Question check engine light

I'm new to this all, but I have a 99 Cavalier that has been acting weird. Twice now I've had the ABS light, the air bag light, and emergency brake light come on while driving. 2nd time it happened the engine acted like it wanted to stall. Then finally yesterday it happened again and that engine did stall. I was able to restart, but check engine light came on. Continued to drive for 1 mile and then car quit again with same lights appearing on. After 2 hrs, car started again and was able to drive home about 55 miles. Today, I drove back to work again (55 miles) and no issues yet. Any suggestions on what might me wrong? Please let me know asap.

Re: check engine light

Did it die when you came to a stop, or while driving at speed?

Re: check engine light

Have Auto Zone or Advance pull the codes (they do it for free) to see what tripped your check engine light. That way we can better diagnose your problem.

Re: check engine light

I had the same problem and it was the alternator. My battery light was on then 2 days later abs light went on then 3 days after that I was sitting at a light and the airbag light and several other lights came on so I pulled into a parking lot and the car died.
