'91 SI Timing Help Please

I have a '91 Prelude SI 2.05. I want to advance the timing a few degrees but heard that you have to reset the computer to do so. My Fords have a plug to undo. Does anyone know that pins you shortout or is their a plug on the this year that I am not seeing. I have tried to purchase an aftermarket manual for this car but Autozone says that Chilton doesn't make one. Please help! The ECU is a 37820-PK3-A00, 530-320184 built 1/30/91. if that helps.

Re: '91 SI Timing Help Please

I've got a 91 SR 2.0. When you stand infront of the car, take a look at the firewall on the driver side. There should be a yellow plug there. Pull that plug and short the pins with a piece of electrical wire. You need to do that to check the timing properly.

BTW, if you plan on doing the work yourself, spend the money and get a Chilton's manual. I find them to be the most thorough.

Thanks for your help. Being a newbie is tough! Autozone doesn't carry that years and can't order it. Does Chilton make one?

Re: Thanks

You can get the Chilton one from Amazon. Take a look at this link.

It's my Prelude Bible and I keep it with me in the car!

Books

Thanks, I noticed there is a title on building "Honda/Acura Engine Performance: How to Modify D, B and H Series Honda/Acura Engines for Street and Drag Racing Performance". If my Car is a 91 2.05 Manual Tranny, do you know what motor series that I have?

Re: Books

Dude, I can't help you there, sorry. My Prelude has just under 200,000 miles on it and is purely a commuter car. I know alot of people on this forum modify their cars quite a bit, but I just work on mine so I can keep it on the road.

Perhaps someone else on this forum knows???
