Re: Tamiya f40 in progress (Many pics)
I just finished building this kit too, and I don't like it very much.
Didn't seem like the body parts fit together very well, and the engine cover wouldn't close all the way without my having to glue parts C3 & 4 on in the opposite direction from the instructions, which is incorrect as far as it being accurate to the real car. The windshield had so much curvature to it that it had to flex quite a bit for the body to fit all the way down on the chassis. Maybe that problem was unique to this kit but you might want to check. A few tips: Remember you have to paint part of the side windows and parts A4 & 5 body color. Paint the silver for the rear tail lights onto the back of the lenses not the rear grill where they fit because the surface they fit on is actually larger than the lense, found that out the hard way ![]() Make sure you glue the small rear window that's inside the car in real good because it is also what holds the hinges for the rear engine cover. But don't get any glue on the hinge surfaces! ![]() Don't put the window over the engine in until you see if the engine cover is going to close proplerly, that way if something is interfering with it you can better see it.
