Re: need help adding 2 speakers

Without a seperate amp, you can either have it
a) sound like ass with an 8 ohm load or
b) damage your headunit with a 2 ohm load
Get a seperate amp if you looking to add more than 4 speakers.

how would it sound like ass with an 8ohm load? it may not be as loud but the ammount of resistance has nothing to do with distortion....most home audio is 8ohms....BOSE puts OEM stereos in many high end vehicles with 10ohm woofers/speakers...and there are other car companies that have off the wall loads like poniac had a system in one of their sun fires i think that was 7ohm....sounded fine for your average OEM stereo...

doubling the impedance should not effect the audible sound any, but doubling the number of speakers can just make things worse. The more speakers you have playing the same range, the more likely you are to have frequency smearing, phase shifts, and all kinds of other nasty sounds.

If you know what you are doing and you dont use crap quality woofers/speakers then frequincy smearing and cancelation is very minimal...

Re: need help adding 2 speakers

um, if you have different speakers, in different parts of the car, pointed different directions, playing the same frequency range, you're GOING to get cancellation. There's absolutely no way to avoid it, no matter how high quality your speakers are.
