Bad News but maybe there is a bright side....

so i was driving along a long curve the other night and it had big trees on both sides. so you cant really see what is going on around the other side. anyways some asshole was driving on the wrong side of the road so i try to make a sudden jerk to the other side on wet pavement to avoid him. thats when i lose control and go flying at about 60 mph into a curb onto flat grass (thank the lord there wasnt a ditch). well it was a pretty tall and square curb so ended up with 4 flats, 4 really fucked wheels, and a crinkled fender. by the way me and the car never made contact and he kept going so i didnt get a liscence number or anything. i will get pics as soon as possible and show people why it isnt good to hit curbs at 60mph.

bad news...im out a set of wheels and my car is damaged.
good news...insurance will write me a check for the wheels/tires and fix the fender. so it looks like im ALOT closer to my TT swap.

oh samhain....are you saying i dont have anything knowledgable to say in that sticky??? j/k.

These are 2 pictures of the driver's side wheels which hit the curb with the outside of the wheel. the passenger side wheels are dented real bad on the inside of the wheel. I have never seen a wheel do this. i think im goin to replace them with 18's after i get my TT swap done and over with.

Yeah...you might want to check the car on a frame rack while your at it. A bit of cash to check the car might tell you if the hit created an expensive problem somewhere else.

yeah i was thinking that so i took it to a buddy of mine who works at nearby shop and he looked over it and drove it and he said it seems fine. so, do you still think i should go have ti professionally looked at by nissan? that is the only place i can think of that would do it and know what they are looking at around my area.

If you can find a frame shop that will check it out on the rack for like 50 bucks then I'd say do it. But really, if your not going to use the car for auto crossing or something really stressful like that, even if it was bent, it will drive fine.

ok....hmm....auto-crossing...2+2....that gives me an idea.

thanks for the info broke...i will mention it to the body shop that is goin to do the fender work, might as well tack it on to the bill. i dont pay my insurance company $2000 a year for nothing.

BTW...what are some good light weight wheels that are offered in staggered sizes besides volks??? is racing hart a good lightweight wheel or are they just expensive for no reason???

lol...well there is more good news. i finally called sport compact pro back. and i straight out asked him if they basically up the prices so you only saving like $5. he said that is not true at all. he said that they are the same prices as all your normal companies that you look at online. he also said that after a year that if your car meets their standards then you are eligible for a FULL sponsorship where they pay for EVERYTHING. oh yah...im entered to win a 2000 skyline gt-r. it would all be worth it if i won that. BTW...im pretty hyped up if you didnt notice.

i also got my estimate on my fender. $1400, but i think they are jerking around because the fender is only costing them $270 plus about $200 in labor and paint. so they are basically chraging like $1000 to BLEND the rest of the car. eh...i dont know.

Re: Bad News but maybe there is a bright side....

Sounds fishy! Did you try to get an estimate somewhere else? When did you decide to go TT? 5 spd? I thought we were 2+2 homies!?! Ugh... I'm the only NA AT around here now!

we will still be 2+2 homies but mine will have turbocharged 300hp+ and yours will have n/a 300hp+. u still got stealthz32 thats n/a 2+2....plus that makes it better for you. more rare of a find. i want to see your project succeed because i want an n/a to show all these TT guys up. j/k guys.

but this is how i figure it.
spend $3,000 or more to get the n/a engine to 300hp with nos (reaching its limits). or do a TT swap for $3,000 (have 300 hp) and let the modding begin!!!!!!!
