2001 Taurus Computer/Anti Theft problem

I have a 2001 Taurus with 36000 miles and have never had any problems. Today, when I went to start it, it wouldn't start and I noticed all major electrical systems were out, i.e. power locks, seat no lights radio, automatic trunk opener, etc. Completely dead. I did noticed the theft light is blinking. Could the theft system have been activated and immobilized the car or is this an electrical/computer problem? Any ideas or easy fix?
