98 Blazer Transmission???

My transmission in my 98 Blazer 4X4 slips and shifts back and forth at normal driving speeds.I also notice the transmission fluid smells burned.
I just changed the filter and fluid but I think it actually made it worse.
Is my whole transmission shot or is it just a sensor or something?
Should I get it rebuilt or just buy a rebuilt one?

Re: 98 Blazer Transmission???

What speeds are you talking about?

The Torque convertor is what you are probably seeing going in and out when you are in an area with more hills.

It is there for fuel economy.

Transmission issue

I have a 98 Blazer also and had the transmission fluid chaned as a part of preventative maintenance. During my mechanisc test drive he found that a solenoid was sticking, causing irratic shifting. It was replaced an every thing works now. The solenoid switch was an additional $50.00. Seems like some times we should leave well enough alone (Smile)
