Question Reving While in Neutral??

Does it affect your engine when you're doing like 50mph,remove foot off gas pop it in neutral and Rev the engine? Foot off gas and pop it back into drive?

If you're wondering why i did this it's because i got a new muffler and it sounds the best in tunnels.

I have 93 accord 4cl automatic by the way.

Thanks in advance for any response.

no it's not really going to hurt your car except for a little tranny wear just obviously don't put it back in drive with your foot on the gas...just for the record it will be louder if you just go through the tunnel hard on the gas in the upper rpm range of any gear.

yea i think it is going to hurt your Transmission...keep doing that everyday and i give ur tranny one week. unless you had a stick shift, then it would be different.

A week??? What are you talking about? It might cause some premature wear, but his tranny wouldn't go out in a week. Come on, even I know that!

Well, depending on the speed you're going, and the RPMs when you put it back in drive, the torque converter has to pick up whatever the difference is. WIll that hurt? Well, *I* wouldn't do it without raising the engine revs to match something like what they'd be in drive at that speed.

Don't worry - you'll grow out of it.

i think a loud muffler on an auto just isnt right? If you wanted to rev like that you should hav gotten a stick.

Yeah i know. I want to conver the transmission, but thats two much $$ for me right now. It looks good though with the altezza tail light and muffler.
I'll save up and get a 98 or 00 vtec accord with manual and hook that up.
