Re: which year had the least problems

I've heard that the 95 model was the worst. Probably because it was the first year production model. Seems like the 98 model was pretty stable thought. Not sure about the 99. Hope this helps!!!

well,,i own a 95 aurora with 101,000...i have a neighbor with a 95 aurora that has a 140,000 on his...this may seem hard to believe but he still has the original plugs and wires...everything else is still original raditor, fuel pump, water pump, etc..that is amazing...the only thing that he has replaced is both speed sensors in front and the water pump belt..sounds hard to believe but it's true...no major problems with either of these auroras..

Re: which year had the least problems

That's at least 10 1995's with no major problems !
Seriously though - I would suggest the later models have less problems, and have been improved each year for other things as well, like better suspension and bigger brakes.

Re: which year had the least problems

Geez 5x post...can we get a moderator up in here to delete all of that?!

99 was probably them most solid year. Always takes 4 or 5 years to iron out the bugs. Then they go and change it on us...oh well.

Re: which year had the least problems

I got my 95 aurora for 4,500 with a bad motor (piston floating around) got a motor that had 20,xxx miles on it for 800 bucks!! its good to be friends with junkyard owners 8)

installation was almost the same price as the motor (700) the mechanic said never again will I put anohter aurora engine in, it cost me too much time and money lol.

Re: which year had the least problems

97 & 99 had no recalls since the fuel rails and they both are very solid cars,

Re: which year had the least problems

I've gottten a crapload of miles out of my 95. As long as they fix stuff for free (seatbelt recall) I don't especially care...

I'm up over 190,000 now, though not nearly so original as the happy poster up there I've only had new (in sequential order): egr valve, a/c compressor, water pump rebuilt, plugs and wires, shift solenoids, shocks, bearing assys, radiator, alternator, and finally a very expensive input speed sensor. 2 sets of tires and around 4 sets of pads and a couple of rotors can be thrown in for good measure.

Oh, and I have busted motor/tranny mounts that aren't getting fixed till something espensive falls off. They couldn't get them in a timely fashion, and they were going to run as much as the tranny service itself.

All that being said I'm trying to talk the wife into letting me get the pewter colored 99 with the factory chrome wheels and the sunroof instead of the minivan she wants to buy. It's only $6900 down the street (though I don't know what mileage).
