Hi All,
I have a 2000 Accord with a VTEC L4 engine that is about due for a timing belt change. I want to do this myself and would appreciate any advice from those who have done so. I plan on buying the factory service manual from Helm but would like to hear real-world accounts before plunking down any money. I have changed the belt on an Escort before so I'm not afraid to do it again on the Honda. Specifically: 1. Any gotcha's? 2. Any special tools required? 3. What's a reasonable amount of time to expect this to take? 4. What other parts do I need to replace while I'm at it? 5. Ballpark parts cost? Thanks in advance for any help. Bruce |

you are on the right track - but I would spend the money for a Honda factory service manual. it is better than any aftermarket manual.

Re: VTEC L4 Timing Belt Replacement Advice
I agree for the Honda factory service manual. The tools you need are specified in it.
Except the TB, you can replace the timing balancer belt, cam shaft seal, and water pump. Also other 2 drive belts for AC and alternator. |

I have the same car, it's an EX model Vtec 4
Being in Canada that is, how many miles or KM should you change the TB? In the manual it has two different numbers. One says 100,000km and in another section it says 140,000km. Thanks guys! |
