Re: Who uses synthetic oil

I use valvoline 10w30. 96k miles.

I was told by a mechanic that valvoline is good oil for an engine.

Re: Who uses synthetic oil

I use mobile 1 10w30 100k miles, Honestly I don't think it matters much among the top brands. What I want to know is the difference between synthetic and natural.

oil life studies show a big diff.

I based on studies ive read mobile 1 is a top quality full synthetic and that is what i use in all my cars except the stealth which i use redline.
It is very important not to overlook the oil filter, there are big diffs. in them. long story short go with mobile 1 or k&n oil filters, they use full synthetic media and can handle higher oil pressures that would blow a hole through paper filters. i think i found the info at (stealth316.com).
now if anyone can help me with my driveline issue id appreciate it.

Re: Who uses synthetic oil

I use mobil 1 synthetic 10w30, it is a prefered brand amoung many 3s'ers

Redline and royal purple are extremely good brands as well in all parts of your car, not just engine oil, and I would highly recommend them.

As far as oil filters...this is a really good read, it is an independent study on all the main brands:

got mph, I used this as a guide for driveline issues

i used synchromesh and mobil 1 75w90 if I remember correctly and it improved shifting quite noticeably.

Re: Who uses synthetic oil

Make sure it doesn't have any oil leaks. If it does, just use regular oil or a high mileage oil, cuz synthetic will leak out fast and you'll need to add frequently, which means more money gone

i'm switching to mobile 1 15w50 here, not too worried about a leak, just replaced the rear main seal which is the most common place for a leak on our cars.

Re: Who uses synthetic oil

well the best out there is BG,Mobil 1,royal purple, and redline but they are said to give 3-5% power and the others won't be much different but some people notice that the oil leaks out or is burned off faster than normal oil
