do your research, make sure the computer numbers match up. most likely, they won't.

well, if you would think about what i wrote, you wouldn't be all mad. i said, most likely the numbers won't match up. i said this because i know that they altered the computers from year to year, but i dont' know anything about cougar computers or how they relate to mustang computers. if i were you i'd buy a service manual for your car and compare it to that for your potential donor car. you'll be able to find the specific numbers you're looking for. unless, of course, somebody on here happens to know exactly what you need, which is unlikely.

Re: mass air flow computer

The computer you want is an A9L. Typically found in '89-93 5.0 Mustangs. Check junkyards and E-bay for the best deals...

Yes, I believe it has to do with idle control but I could be wrong. The A9L is the manual computer and the A9P is the auto computer. However oddball computers were used now and then and the Cobra computers are different too.

Re: mass air flow computer

Yeah, but Cobra comp's were also designed for 24 lb injectors, if you wanna keep it cheap, A9L/A9P depending on tranny..

thats the thing i plan on going to 24lb with a 70 mm mass air just want sure if it would be cheaper to buy it all separate or just get the kit. of course i d feel better about a new computer vs an old one but my head might not feel better when my wife beats on it for spending 650.00 on the kit i found

I checked with jegs but it seems that this more of an upgrade kit than a conversion kit .they are telling me i need to convert it first then go with the larger injectors and maf. maybe i'll just buy a new computer and find the instructions online somewhere for the conversion.

Re: mass air flow computer

The problem you will run into with a Cobra computer is when you do swap either MAF's or injectors in the future, it creates complications, because the MAF will have to be cal'ed for the Cobra comp.

I say get a Pro-M MAF and rip the harness and computer out of a JY.
