86 toy ac problem

Hello all, any help would be much appreciated. MY toy has blown cold all of it's life. The problem is the switch in dash will not kick the compressor on. Wired compressor directly to battery and it works. Checked all fuses and could not dedect a problem. Not sure which one it is though. Thanks in advance!!

Re: 86 toy ac problem

I have the same problem with a 92 22RE. I have already checked fuses and the "A/C amplifier" (the little box behind the glove box). The fuses in the manual look good, so I think its the AC switch as well. The light will not come on nor will the compressor switch on.

Re: 86 toy ac problem

okay, you both need to check the low pressure switch on your system and see if you are getting power to the switch first. If you get power to the switch but not out of it you probably have a low system, or a remote possibility is a bad switch, but most likely a low charge. The A/C electrical system is pretty simple, get the diagram and a test light and find out where the "open" in the circuit is.

good luck and let us know how you do or if you need any other help

Nate
