Re: GSX Automatic

No, absolutely not. For a period of time the auto will be slower than a manual transmission, but after installing an aftermarket tranny and torque converter, the automatic DSMs can be faster than the manual ones.

Re: GSX Automatic

Does the aftermarket tranny add a gear to the auto setup? that fact that there are only 4 gears seems to be the biggest problem for the automatics.

Re: GSX Automatic

bah, it doesnt matter how many gears you have, its how they are set up. ive seen a ford farm truck with 3 on the tree run 11sec with a bale of hay still in the back.

Re: GSX Automatic

The number of gears matters for high hp low torque cars since they take advantage of those gears redlining in everyone of them. That truck ( I'm guessing was a turbo disael) probably puts down a massive amount of torque and can turn longer gears

Re: GSX Automatic

naw it wont change gears.. hes talking a torque converter witch makes an otherwise useless auto tranny great off the line.. and id throw in a shift kit too.. you gotta remember one thing.. i have yet to meet anybody that can shift faster than auto tranny does.. peace

Re: GSX Automatic

its not a torque converter its a stall converter... it allows you to manage a higher rev without moving or stalling out.

Re: GSX Automatic

an aftermarket torque converter gives you a higher stall along with not slipping as much. what does an aftermarket stall converter do?

go research!

Re: GSX Automatic

no it doesnt! torque converter multiplies torque, stall converter raises the RPM range before engaging!

go research!

there is such thing as a high stall torque converter but a stall converter is not a torque converter!
