Help...Camaro goes in reverse only !!!!

Hello all, just wondering if anyone may know how come this morning my car would only go in reverse !!! Obviously it's a tranny problem, but question is, does anyone know how serious it may be ?

Basically, here is what's happening: If I redline the engine in D 3, 2 or 1 the car will CRAWL very slowly forward, I would say at less than 1 MPH... However in reverse, the car takes off no problem, I only have about 92000 miles on the car !! Is it time for a new tranny ? Any ideas ?

Thank you very much for all your help,

Aye sounds like it's time for a rebuild. As for it only having 92000 miles, my 94 z had just under 82000 miles and has been babyd for most of it when the 3-4 clutch pack went out.

Re: Help...Camaro goes in reverse only !!!!

maybe the converter(or conventor i dont remember) between the engine and transmission, but it is a guess, because it would suck o try to change that while removing the transmission, and messing up when it was actually the transmission and you would have to do it again.

Re: Help...Camaro goes in reverse only !!!!

LOL It's funny reading this thread after not having a Camaro since about 98. I had bought a brand new Camaro in 95, automatic trans. The trans went out on it at about 85,000 miles. Not only that, the alternator went out, and the car started dying sometimes at stop lights. It was a purple one, just like in DiabloGT's pics. I finally just had to let GM repo it because I couldn't afford the repairs any longer. The car looked great, it was just the worst car I ever had. When GM sold the car at auction, they barely got $3,000 for it for it only being 3 years old at that time. Seeing your purple car brings back the fun times though!

diablo are you refering to the torque converter... it is a possibility but i would suggest the tranny shifted it's last gear...
