compression question

I have A 99 silverado ext cab w/ v6 4.3 liter w 4 wheel disc brakes. I have A boat that I hall behind it ,well the other day while I was launching the boat out in the ocean and I almost lost my truck to the ocean.I usually leave it in gear and set the parking break,but we all know how reliable the chevy parking breaks have become...Anyways as I was unhooking the boat I noticed the truck started to slip back while it was in gear.I jumped off the front of the boat and opened the door to the truck and stepped on the brake.It stopped it from moving but everytime I let off the brake the truck would start to slip back again.The truck was in first gear and the goosd ol reliable "E" brake was on but it kept jurking back like the motor was spinning backwards.The truck only has 58k miles on it but so far it has been A big dissapointment!!.Is this the sign that the motor is starting to have low compression.I am really afraid to check but if it is this will be the last chevy I buy.I really hope not because I have been A big chevy die hard but so far this truck has been full of problems even brand new. I have taken excellent care of it butI have had more problems with this truck than my 92 witch I bought brand new.My 92 I got over 300 k miles out of it and it was still running when I traded it in for the 99.Well any info I can get on this problem I would really appreciated...Thanks Silver

Well I have had this boat for over A year now and I have launched it over 100 times with the same truck but this was the first time the truck started to roll back like that....Anyone have any ideas?

DON'T GET ME STARTED ABOUT MY 2000 SIVERADO. Your 4.3 v-6 alone does not have the mass to stop your truck and trailer from rolling back on a boat ramp, especiaally with the non-existant GM parking brake system, i believe your parking brake was just gradually losing strength and grip and now its at that common GM condition of perfectly usless.. sugest you use a wheel chock with a rope on it so you can jerk it out wile in the truck or punt and have your emergency brakes serviced.. a 300 dollar job minimum as the parts in the inside drum becom unusable and the dealer will not warrenty the work unless you replace roters.. compression i don't believe would help you even if your moter was new..again a v-6 does not have the internal mass, for that matter my 4.8 v-8 would not have it either. I have hade to replace my parking brake twice in a 12 month period..and the secound time it failed , rolled across a parkin lot (luckily not killing anyone) and hit a toyota. I wish i had bought a toyota....or anyhting besides this pos. I'm going to get an attorney now and go for a lemon law settlement as gm has no intension of fixing this truck and its factory defects..i've only talked about my brakes because if i go further into this letter i will suffer complete anxiety overload.. good luck... JJ P.S. have you tried putting it in 4 wheel low on the boat ramp you may get it to hold in a much much lower gear.
