Thank you very much. I'll tackle this some time over the weekend.

Just one more question. Where is the schrader valve? I was hard to make out where is was on the picture.

The valve is on the front side of the motor on the fuel rail ,but instead of the scharder valve, just pull this fuse and start the car. Then when it dies you should beable to remove the filter.....just remember to replace the fuse and turn the ignition on for a few mins to prime the system before starting. If you have never changed the filter before, you may want to get some PB Blaster and spray on both ends and let it sit on there for about 10-15 mins before you try to losen it......~Larry~

Re: Where is my fuel filter???

DO NOT PULL THAT FUSE AND RUN YOUR CAR!!!!!!

It is not good to run without fuel unless you want a problem...ie broken Piston and/or bad valves!

Re: Where is my fuel filter???

I also have a 97 grand prix and had a awfull time getting the rusted nut loose. In fact I ended up taking it to my mechanic. Any tips besides soaking it in WD40? Thanks

The schrader valve is on the fuel rail, it looks like a tire valve. Wrap a rag around it and depress the valve. If you can use line wrenches to remove the fuel line (I think 16 mm?) If the nut it rounded off and nothing is holding then Sears has Robo-grips or even better Gator grips. I don't like those alternatives but have been able to take off completely rounded caliper bolts off with the gators, they are an awesome tool.
